Very pleased with this amazing review in Music World, the magazine of the NTB and Arts Union. ☺️ Marc van Vugt - The Curious Badger - Guitar Tales II - Baixim Records The fact: one guitarist, nine guitars and all original compositions. The question: is that interesting? The answer: a resounding yes. And much more than that. Especially for lovers of acoustic music, this is an unprecedented gem that will make you very quiet, and stay that way. And if you are blessed with a really fine music system, or headphones, then this is pure delight. Cinematic, secular, jazz, classical, all sound worlds that pass by (sometimes very briefly) and continue to amaze you. Enchantments that transport you briefly to another moment, or another place. Beautiful melodic compositions, wonderfully played on multiple (often wonderful) guitars. The pro-duction is flawless. Sometimes almost too much, because there really is no unevenness to be found in the recordings, while a fray can sometimes be quite nice. But that is unnecessary searching for criticism. 🇳🇱 Netherlands vs. USA 🇺🇸: Two completely different worlds in terms of music. While the US is the birthplace of genres like jazz, hip-hop, and rock, the Netherlands has mainly made its mark internationally with Dance. Think of big names like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, and Martin Garrix. But beyond electronic music? The Netherlands often borrows styles from other countries, like the pop structures from Sweden or the urban influences from the UK. Why is that? In America, music is often intertwined with culture: hip-hop, for example, is more than just music—it’s a lifestyle, a movement. In the Netherlands, music often remains just ‘entertainment’. We look at what’s successful in other countries and adapt it. This doesn’t mean that the Netherlands lacks talent, but it’s challenging to develop a unique, recognizable identity outside of Dance. The challenge for Dutch artists? To develop their own sound, instead of simply following what’s popular internationally. Can we ever create a unique ‘Dutch pop’ or ‘Dutch hip-hop’? Or will the Netherlands remain dependent on influences from other music countries? Presenting - Kammertónlist A small experiment presented in an interactive environment. I became curious about how it would be to present music in an interactive way, where you can walk around in an environment and approach the instruments to hear them louder but also as if they came from the sound source itself (as opposed to just being part of a stereo mix). This brings some challenges in terms of mixing 2D sound (the usual stereo sound) and 3D sound (which has an actual place in the environment and is affected, for example, if we turn our head). After some tinkering in both FMOD and Unreal Engine, I managed to create something I was happy with and am excited to share with the world! 🥳 There are many more aspects of this type of presentation that I would like to explore and develop further in the future, but as a first experiment, it feels very fun! FANTASTIC musical performances: Calle Stenman - Trumpet melody and an amazing solo at the highest intensity Tobias Kalliokulju - The one who hammers a bit on the piano Albin Signell - Double bass and incredibly stable playing (thanks for the nice digital collaboration!) Henrik Jäderberg - Drums and everyone's groove-master. Probably the easiest recording session I've ever had, just comes in and nails it! I wrote the music, produced, mixed, and implemented it with FMOD and Unreal Engine. The environment was built with the help of assets from the Epic Marketplace Store! There might be an extremely technical demonstration of the FMOD project with a target audience of: "Crazy people who can endure a 4.5-minute long technical demo." MUSIC AI: Positive Education Potential (Process) Tools: SUNO: Music AI creation AUDACITY: Compiling AI Stems MIDJOURNEY: Artwork and Album cover. I am Excited to showcase the positive impact of Music AI in one of our school projects! Collaborating with Year 7 Music and PDHPE, we're innovating to engage learners effectively: 🎶 Singing for enjoyment in Year 7 Music 💃 Choreographing dances in Year 7 PDHPE 🎥 Possible. Creating a school promotional video Recently, I spearheaded a project aimed at crafting an engaging musical piece for Year 7, employing a structured process: 1️⃣ **Content Extraction:** Utilizing OCR technology, I extracted relevant content from an expectation memo hard copy provided by our senior executive. I then asked Chat GPT to turn it into song at it generated lyrics, I asked it about 5 times to rewrite. Grabbed all the versions into a bank and then decided on the lines that were the best and most catchy for our Year 7 learners. 2️⃣ **Music Composition with SUNO:** Using SUNO, I provided prompts for a specific musical style, such as "Groovy Disco, Horns and Strings." After iterative refinement, I selected a suitable catchy opening stem to complement the lyrics and found a catchy chorus. I had to extend it many times. 30+ to get the parts I wanted. Note: if you do this with the PAID premium version you own copyright to All stems created. Big if you use the freemium version. Important to know. 3️⃣ **Editing and Production:** In Audacity, I carefully arranged the SUNO extend segments to achieve cohesion. This included extracting interesting material from approximately 30 EXTENDS in the app for editing in Audacity. The outcome? A tailored musical piece, I made a smaller edit perfect for PDHPE dance assessments and for year 7 to have a casual singalong with in Music class. Just they know the song before they start creating their dance assessment group choreography task in PDHPE classes. This is really showcasing the potential of AI in education.
